New Frontier Hotel Las Vegas is now permanently closed.
The hotel was demolished in 2007.
Country western hotel with mechanical bull riding
Dating back to 1956, The New Frontier bears a venerable Las Vegas name. This intimate Strip hotel with a country and western theme is across the street from Las Vegas’ huge Fashion Show Mall. Guests in either their bargain-rate rooms or two-room suites enjoy easy access to Gilley’s famous bull-riding and line-dancing saloon. Attractions on property include a bingo parlor, classic steakhouse, seasonal pool, and expansive sundeck in tranquil courtyard.
Small by Las Vegas Strip standards, the 986-room New Frontier provides moderately priced accommodations halfway between Downtown Las Vegas to the north and The Strip’s southern end. It’s relaxed, compact for easy navigation around the hotel and casino, and readily accessible to famous attractions, restaurants and shows.
Location: Las Vegas Strip
Amenities at New Frontier Hotel
Gilley’s, an offshoot of the Texas saloon made famous by the movie “Urban Cowboy,” draws big crowds for barbecue, mechanical bull riding, and line dancing. A large, terraced sundeck surrounding a large pool in a courtyard is quiet enough for birdsongs to be heard. The pool is unheated and open seasonally. Adjacent is a 14-person spa for soaking.
Insider tip: At 6 PM on Thursdays, Gilley’s offers line-dancing lessons.

Line dancers, barbecue fans, and those brave enough to challenge a mechanical bull pack Gilley’s wood-floor saloon. Friday night bikini-bull-riding sessions are especially lively.
The Casino supplies 65,000 square feet of slots, video poker, blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, and pai gow. It also includes a race and sports book offering 40 seats with individual televisions. The hotel also includes a bingo parlor.
