This gigantic 2 level museum takes you back in time to the very beginnings of life in Las Vegas. It’s free to visit with paid entry to the Springs Preserve. Start the journey of discovery by examining the geology and fossils of Nevada, including the state fossil, the ichthyosaur. This 48 foot long reptile could be found swimming in what was then the sea in Central Nevada.
Move through history and explore the interactive exhibits on the early Native American people of Nevada, then exhibits on the history of mining and the beginning of railroads. Learn about the construction of the Hoover Dam, marvel at the Nevada Nuclear Test Site section, and admire the antique slot machines. We particularly love the display of vintage showgirl costumes over the decades.
