Snap a Selfie at the Fountains of Bellagio

One of the most iconic sights to see in Vegas is the Fountains of Bellagio. If you’re exploring the Las Vegas Strip, you’ll find this right in the center of activity, outside the Bellagio hotel. Every half hour to 15 minutes, a spectacular water and light show bursts into action. (You can find a schedule here.)

Towering fountains of water are coordinated beautifully with popular songs ranging from “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” to the Titanic theme song. This is a photo opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Explore a Neon Sign Graveyard

In historic Downtown Las Vegas you’ll find a really cool spot called the Neon Museum. Glittering neon signs have always been associated with Vegas, and this is where the retired signs go when they’re broken or no longer needed.

Wandering through the outdoor Neon Boneyard, you’ll get to see more than 200 unrestored vintage signs (which are especially cool when lit up after sunset). It’s a fabulous way to take in the history of the city, while snapping some awesome photos.

Get a Bird’s Eye View from the World’s Largest Observation Wheel

This gigantic observation wheel (the biggest in the world, in fact) gives you a sky-high view over the bright neon lights of Las Vegas. You’ll ride in a comfortable air conditioned cabin that takes you 550 feet in the air above the Las Vegas Strip.

We recommend going when it’s almost sunset – Las Vegas’ desert sunsets are some of the most beautiful in the world. It takes 30 minutes for the wheel to make a full revolution.

Loop the Loop on the Big Apple Roller Coaster

You’ll get quite a view of the strip from the Big Apple Coaster at New York New York. This thrilling roller coaster is not for the timid. It starts out with a heart-stopping 144-foot drop, and features a 180-degree “heartline” twist and dive maneuver as well as a 203 foot drop.

Hot tip: Check out the Coaster ‘n’ Cocktails deal, which can be purchased for $23 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 1pm and midnight. It gives you 1 nighttime coaster ride and a $15 arcade credit to be used at the Big Apple Arcade.

But the most exciting (and little known) part of the Flamingo Wildlife Exhibit is the opportunity to have your picture taken holding exotic birds.

The beautiful parrots, including colorful macaws and umbrella cockatoos, are all rescued by Las Vegas bird trainer Clint Cavalho and trained to sit still for the camera in hilarious and adorable poses. Holding a big parrot is something you have to experience to believe.
